Corinna, in my instructions you still need to re-import your blog posts from your old WordPress.com site to your new Dreamhost installation. Hope this helps!

Hello Jeff -

I have been trying to understand this whole wordpress / dreamhost connection and stuck with the following question:
your description seems as if you just tell dreamhost and wordpress to point at each other - rather than downloading the blog file from wordpress and then uploading it onto the wordpress software within dreamhost?
Is that so? Are you hence still adding your new blog entries through the wordpress site? But this would mean that you are still limited to the content that wordpress.com offers, which doesn't seem to be the case...

The other process I founddescribed in a lot of other forums etc was a process where you actually download your wordpress content from wordpress.com and then upload it onto dreamhost. I assume that these people then add stuff to their blog through dreamhost - without going back to wordpress.com.

Is this correct or am I totally off?
I would really appreciate some clarification... : ) thank you! - C.
